RE: Scan Guage II cause (s) tranny fault?

I think the question was:
"does it work normally without the scangauge?"
It has for some 3k miles we put on it. No repair bills from the original owners on the transmission that we know of.
So I guess yes.
We are leaving today for a good 2k trip, I'll keep the thread updated.
One of the questions was.
Have you tried to disconnect the ScanGaugeII? Maybe you bent a pin installing it into the connector.
All of the pins are fine. Even retested the device to the blazer. worke great.

RE: Winter camping-when the CG water is off>>

I think I get it but want to confirm cause I like it and might try the same thing. I have my MH parked on a site for the winter w/ electric and sewer but water is turned off. I plan on vacationing for a weekend about once a month. I do realize that I will have to "winterize" the fresh water system each time I do this.
So you will fill containers w/ fresh water from a usable hose bib at the cg and drive them back to your site. Then use a pump to transfer the water into your fresh water tank. And whenever you run out do it again. I like it.
I have these questions
what kind of pump is it? where does it get its power from? how expensive was it? and what about sterilization, any concerns, or you won't be using it for drinking.
Its a plain jane shurflo pump that is wired to its own shore power line off the inverter with a manual switch at the plumbing area near the fresh tank. 2 reasons for that, it won't run off the battery in case of accidental switch on, and i also have a backup shurflo if need be. It sits kinda loose in the storage area with its own tubing in/out.
We don't drink much from the tap except for coffee so the latter isn't much of an issue.

RE: Another lesson learned the hard way!

I always try and remember to turn off the water at the tap when we leave the camp for any reason. Our pump also makes a slight hum when in use, I have looked into it as the why and decided that it would be safer just to let it hum when in use to tell me its running.

RE: Scan Guage II cause (s) tranny fault?

I talked my procedure over with the programmer at scanguage when this happened.
I did it all right.
No pins are bent. Retested the device to the Blazer..works great
This is the first time using the scanguage with the rv.
You have to input the values for the tranny temps, then you select the guage from the list. Its not one that people normaly use (words from the programmer)thats why you have to go to the website and get the different guage values, tranny temp, o/2 so forth.

RE: abs light stays on

The thing about ABS is (at least in my experience) you have to basically be in real trouble (hard brakes to locked up wheels) before that pump modulator comes on. I can think of maybe 4 times my ABS have actually come on, all on wet, or frozen roads. If you're in So. Cal the chances of seeing either in the near future are slim to none (knock on wood).
So Cal, where ever this thing goes -this is an rv right?, abs might save your bacon one day. plus you can try and get the light to go out, aside from umplugging it.

RE: abs light stays on

your brakes will still function just fine, your ABS brakes will NOT USUALLY function when there is a fault in the abs system.
One thing you can do is to remove the connections to the abs module itself. Sometimes they get some corrosion and dork the information transfer.
Check for loose wiring, chafed wires, green flakes along the wires/inside the connections, so forth.
Usually an abs module when it goes, it's gone. Look online for shops that rebuild them. You will get the same warranty anywhere rebuilt, most likely it will be the same warranty as a new (1 year).
I don't know how hard it is to change that one out, but usually if you don't have to remove brake lines, its a piece of cake.
What chassis is this?

Scan Guage II cause (s) tranny fault?

I plopped out the new scan guage and played with it for the test run on the blazer, worked great.
Hooked it up to the F450 and input the tranny parameters to get the guage active and after a few I could hear a soleniod come on under the dog house and had the check engine light come on, along with the overdrive led blinking on the gearshift.
I easily cleared the codes (p0702) and after a few it started the same thing. I called scan guage and the programmer said that he had never heard of the sitiation.
Were about to take a long trip here so I'll have some road time testing if need be.
Any takers?

More like slOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOwly!!!:B
Hell yeah! it's a frickin nightmare!:EYeah, a simple job that's a real pain. I can't believe they couldn't design it any better... What a mess! Makes me not want to change it and 150 hours rack up fast...
My gererac is the same fill procedure. My first time doing the service I almost thought something was wrong, but as usual it was just me.
